Hired NYC asks: Should you work in Finance or Tech?

New York City has been an international capital for global finance for over almost seven decades, or since WWII. While its still a hotbed for young, ambitious professionals to build their careers, a lot of them are starting to weigh their options. In fact, the number of people seeking careers in finance has dropped by an astonishing 19% since 2007 — and many are making the switch to (not surprisingly) TECH!

Meanwhile, NYC’s tech scene is booming. The ecosystem has grown by 18% over the past decade, employing 290,000+ tech professionals & generating $50B in total annual compensation. And the growth is happening so quickly that almost 50% of those working in NYC’s tech sector don’t have a college diploma.
